Adax Doubles Capacity Of Best-Selling Intelligent Controllers Wednesday 17 January 2001 PDF Print - Telcos can significantly reduce cost per channel Reading, England - Adax, the industry leader in high performance wide area communications and signaling infrastructure systems, has unveiled the latest version of its flagship protocol controllers. The new Adax APC/4 range provides four ports per card, double that of previous versions, reducing the cost per port by over 40 per cent. The APC/4 lines up with Adax's HDC platform, launched in summer 2000, to deliver complete solutions to support IN (Intelligent Network) developments in the emerging 3G wireless, wireline, mobile IP and advanced datacom markets. As with previous versions, the APC/4 has a dedicated co-processor per port, providing up to 7 Mbps throughput. Multiple APC/4 cards can be installed in a single system for a totally scaleable solution. The Adax Protocol Controllers (APCs) are clear channel intelligent controllers that reside within server computers. They include the MVIP or H.110 bus to enable the support of multiple physical channels simultaneously at full T1/E1. APC cards are available in both PCI and compact PCI formats. Adax products provide the highest throughput, with minimum system loading per port and channel of any functionally equivalent product in the industry. Adax solutions process many thousands of transactions per second and provide efficient bandwidth management, whilst minimising the load on the host CPU. The APC/4 cards are consistent with existing APIs and layer 2 and 3 software components so little or no change is necessary to the higher layer software. The result is a simple migration path, protecting the initial investment and reducing the overall cost of ownership. SS7 MTP-2, HDLC, LAPB, LAPD and LAPV5 are supported via RS449/V.35 physical interfaces and four T1/E1 interfaces are provided through the ANC-QCX daughter card. X.25 and Frame Relay are supported via additional software modules. Multiple APC/4 cards can be installed in a single system for a totally scaleable solution.
