Cable & Wireless, the global telecommunications group, today (22 January
2001) announced it is to supply News Corporation, one of the world's
largest media companies, with global telecommunications services worth
approximately $100 million over the next three years.

The services, to be used by News Corp companies around the world such as
News International, HarperCollins, STAR TV and News Ltd (Australia), will
range from voice through to data and internet services. The framework deal
marks the start of a global alliance between the two companies. Cable &
Wireless services will be used to boost News Corp's development of a
seamless integrated packet-switched network to support voice, video, data
and internet services for its offices worldwide.
