NETCOOL/OMNIbus Enhances Network Management Capabilities of Netherlands'
based IP and OSS Services Provider

SAN FRANCISCO - Micromuse Inc. (Nasdaq: MUSE), the leading provider of
realtime fault management and service assurance software, today announced
that ipulsys B.V., the managed IP and Operational Support System (OSS)
services provider, has selected the carrier-grade Netcool® suite to
provide a complete network monitoring platform for its services to the
business and carrier communities. Based in the Netherlands, ipulsys is an
international provider of business-to-business communications services,
providing Web-enabled, global IP and customer empowerment solutions for
carriers and corporations worldwide.

"With the industry citing quality of service as a major concern in the
provisioning of IP services, the Netcool suite, with its open and
scaleable architecture, seamlessly augments ipulsys' existing
infrastructure," said Joe Gerrese, ipulsys' Vice President, New Service
Management & Pricing. "This in turn helps ipulsys to ensure that
customers receive first class services through a network that provides
consistent uptime and performance."

ipulsys selected Netcool/OMNIbus, Micromuse's flagship application, to
collect, correlate and consolidate network event information such as
alerts, alarms, or other faults, from various devices throughout its
network infrastructure and report them in realtime to operators in the
ipulsys network operations center (NOC), enabling them to respond to
problems before they cause outages in service. In addition, the Netcool
suite easily integrates with ipulsys' existing event management and
tracking applications including Remedy trouble ticketing system and BMC
Patrol to provide an integrated realtime view of ipulsys' service suite of
data and image over IP, video streaming, voice and Web hosting

"As a core component of ipulsys' customer empowered, next-generation IP
solutions, the Netcool suite enables network operators to identify network
events more effectively," said Richard Whitehead, Micromuse's Vice
President, Strategic Technologies. "This underscores ipulsys' commitment
to its customers by providing them with a business class service delivery
infrastructure and maintaining a consistent quality of service."

About the Netcool® Suite

Micromuse's Netcool® software suite collects management data from more
than 300 management environments and network devices, including voice,
data and Internet. Fault data is rapidly processed and filtered by the
Netcool ObjectServer, an in-memory database. The Netcool application
allows operators to build views of service availability in realtime,
helping them manage networks more efficiently. Because it is scalable and
deploys rapidly, the Netcool suite helps service providers to expand their
networks as their markets grow.
