Software AG Sign's XML Guru Thursday 25 January 2001 PDF Print Dr. Michael Kay Joins Software AG and World Wide Web Consortium's XSLT team Bracknell, UK January 25, 2001 - Respected XML expert Dr. Michael Howard Kay will assume responsibility for the implementation and use of Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) - rules that describe how to analyse and convert the structure of an XML document - at Software AG on February 1, 2001. This date also marks the beginning of Dr. Kay’s work in the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) for Software AG where, as a member of the XSLT committee, he will dedicate himself to the standardisation of XSLT technology. Other Software AG representatives in the W3C are Jonathan Robie, Michael Champion and Mick Goulish. Through this participation in the renowned organisation, Software AG is able to channel its XML expertise directly into the W3C as well as gain early insight into the development of standards that can be integrated into its products. Through Dr. Kay’s successful work in a number of XML projects, particularly the publication of his book, XSLT Programmer’s Reference, he has established himself as one of the world’s prominent XML gurus. In the last two years, Kay has concentrated his efforts on XML technology and has earned an international reputation as an authority on XSLT. In the XML world, Kay is known as the developer of the SAXON open-source XSLT processor, and is now working on XSL Transformations Extensions Functions (XSLTX) Version 1.1. After obtaining his degree in computer science, Dr. Kay began specialising in the field of technology for information management. He worked for ICL, Fujitsu’s London-based subsidiary, for more than 20 years, where his activities included research, systems architecture and strategic consulting.
