Archiving Assessment Workshop Points the Way to Performance Improvements and Cost Savings

Large corporate databases are causing high-growth corporate applications to under-perform by up to 20 percent, one of several significant findings from Princeton Softech's Archiving Assessment Workshops, held over the past few months throughout the US and the UK. Additionally, in-depth analysis reveals that enterprises are struggling to manage, store and retrieve data effectively, and that an Intelligent Archiving strategy could create potential cost savings ranging from $1M to more than $15M over 5 years. The Workshops use Princeton Softech's APEX, the Archiving Potential Index, a proprietary methodology for analysing relational data management strategies. Princeton Softech is a subsidiary of Computer Horizons Corp. (NASDAQ: CHRZ) that provides enabling software for developing and deploying high-performance eBusiness and mission critical solutions.

"Our experience has shown that many IT organisations miss a golden opportunity for major cost savings, primarily because the issue of archiving data is something that often falls between the organisational cracks," explains Stephen Gerrard, vice president of strategic planning at Princeton Softech. "DBAs manage the corporate database, application groups provide business services and capacity planners deal with IT infrastructure growth. Our Archiving Assessment Workshop enables these diverse groups to work toward a common solution that will further everyone's goals of improved performance and availability for eBusiness and mission-critical applications, as well as overall IT cost containment."

"In dealing with the exponential growth in the amount of data that companies need to manage, data archiving is a key process," notes Rakesh Kumar, program director with META Group. "There are a limited number of vendors in the market place, but Princeton Softech is amongst the leaders in this area. One of the key issues is for organisations to understand exactly what needs to be archived, before using the tools available. This is where the Archiving Workshop from Princeton Softech helps users understand the concepts of smart archiving and how to use those concepts fruitfully."

During the half day Archiving Assessment Workshop

Princeton Softech's senior consultants help participants analyse available methods for streamlining complex enterprise databases, discuss the current performance of mission critical applications and review existing IT capacity and planned growth strategies. Attendees gain an appreciation for how a database streamlining strategy, using Intelligent Archiving, can work in their IT environment. After the workshop, the company receives a customised Benefits Assessment Report, summarising the key benefits that can be achieved by implementing an Intelligent Archiving strategy, including key metrics for cost containment and potential savings, improved system and application performance and improved availability of mission-critical data. There is no cost for the Archiving Assessment Workshop.
