The all-new Canon Bubble Jet S600 printer can deliver a lightning fast 15ppm (pages per minute) of crisp monochrome text and 10ppm of vibrant colour print making it ideal for hectic office environments and advanced home users.
Delivering high quality photographic print, the advanced Bubble Jet S600 offers true 2400 x 1200 dpi resolution and takes advantage of Canon's Microfine Droplet Technology to give better quality photo prints than any other inkjet in its class. Canon's Microfine Droplet Technology allows the head to fire precision droplets of just five picolitres in size.
For plain paper printing Canon's new high-resolution print head gives undisputed 1200dpi quality straight from the box, delivering pin sharp images and crisp black text.
Optimum speed is achieved thanks to the wide 1,088-nozzle head, and significant improvements in the speed of paper feeding. Multi-page documents are also printed quickly as the S600 incorporates 'relay paper feeding'. As the S600 finishes printing at the end of a single sheet of paper, it is already loading the next sheet. This means that the continuous print process is virtually seamless and efficient paper handling ensures super-fast print speeds.
Canon S600 users can take advantage of Canon's High Colour pigment black ink that improves the quality of monochrome print and gives sharper text reproduction while Canon's new formula High Colour inks offer greater colour range and higher optical density.
Maximum print economy is assured because the S600 features Canon's cost effective, Single Ink technology that uses individually replaceable ink tanks for each colour. Unlike combined ink-tank systems, there is no need to throw away unused ink when a single colour runs out, the user simply needs to replace the relevant empty ink tank with a new one. With Single Ink tank technology, a controlled light beam monitors the ink level in the separate colour tanks as it reduces. Before an individual tank needs replacing, an alarm warns the user in plenty of time to ensure a replacement is available. For even greater convenience each of the ink tanks is translucent so users can quickly check ink levels by
lifting the printer cover.
Furthermore, Canon inks now offer more than 251 years light-fastness (subject to storage and display conditions). Internal tests indicate a photo lifespan in excess of 251 years when printed on Canon's specialist photo papers (PR-101 and PC-101S) using Canon inks.
The S600's photo print performance is further enhanced by a new and exciting addition to the printer driver called Photo Optimizer PRO. This three-dimensional colour correction function includes an integrated Auto Tone Control capability that optimises colour brightness and density prior to printing. Photo Optimizer PRO enables the user to optimise their original photographic image to its maximum potential at the touch of a single button.
A wide range of Canon media is available for the S600 including High Resolution paper and transparencies. Specialist Photo Paper Pro (PR-101) and new 6"x4" Pro Photo Cards (PC-101S) are also available for superior photo quality.
Exciting improvements to Canon's print driver include a new 'Print Advisor' that helps the user to decide which media and printer driver settings they should choose for specific tasks. The Print Advisor has a helpful Wizard that automatically selects optimal print settings and begins the task.
The S600 has both Parallel and USB interfaces giving compatibility with Windows®95, Windows®98, Windows®Millennium Edition, WindowsNT®4.0, Windows®2000, and iMac/iBook or Power Macintosh G3/G4 systems fitted with USB ports.

1In-house evaluation on Photo Paper Pro (PR-101):
Accelerated test conditions
Temperature: 24oC Humidity: 60%
Light source: White fluorescent light 70,000lux
Layer of air and 2mm-thick glass on the sample
Presumed conditions: Assuming one day's illumination as 500lux x 10 hours
In-house Evaluation criteria (Based on ISO):
Single colour/Composite colour: A colour change has occurred if the density is under 70% (OD: 1.0->0.7)
Process Bk: The fading ratio between each colour is within 15%, and A colour change has occurred if the density is under
Precautions on storing printed images:
25 years of light-fastness may not be achieved depending on storage conditions. The expressed number of years is the result of simulated tests conducted by Canon Inc and is not guaranteed. This number of years does not allow for paper fading or durability. After
printing, allow the ink to dry completely. Store your images in albums, clear plastic folders, or glass frames in order to avoid exposing them to the open air. Never store printed images in locations subject to high temperatures, high humidity, or direct sunlight. Store them at normal room temperature. It is not advisable to use albums with self-adhesive pages for storing images as this may prevent them from being removed in the future.
