New OnStream product extends the ADR product line for entry-level server

London, UK - February 5, 2001 - OnStream, Inc., creators of the world's
fastest growing tape technology, today announced the availability of its
new ADR30 Digital Tape Drive specifically created to address the needs of
small businesses with entry level servers, offering higher capacity, lower
price, better performance and most importantly, greater reliability, than
traditional DDS3 products.

The ADR30 provides 30 gigabytes* of capacity, sustained speeds of 4MB/sec*
using hardware data compression and multi-platform support for server
backup at a price of £385 or 599 Euros.

Like the award winning ADR50, the new ADR30 allows users to benefit from a
built-in migration path as their business and server needs grow. Available
as an internal model only, the ADR30 supports a broad range of operating
system platforms including Microsoft ®Windows 2000® & NT®; Windows® 95,
98, ME; Linux®; Mac OS®; SCO® UnixWare; SCO® OpenServer; and Novell®
NetWare®. OnStream's software partners include 1Vision, Computer
Associates International®, Dantz®, Enhanced Software Technologies® (EST),
Microlite, NovaStor®,, Veritas and Yosemite.

"Our research identified an opportunity in the DDS3 market for increased
backup capacity, superior performance, and a more reliable solution that
costs a fraction of the server itself," Syd Virdi, Vice President Sales
and Marketing, OnStream, said. "By bringing to market this new 30
gigabyte drive, with a faster Wide Ultra2 LVD interface, a broader range
of compatibility and impressive performance, OnStream continues to
demonstrate its ability to respond to market demand. With the collapse of
the DDS roadmap, OnStream continues to offer the best value with a
technology that offers plenty of room to grow for generations to come."

The ADR30 is powered by the company's patented Advanced Digital Recording
(ADR) technology that delivers superior reliability and a unique blend of
capacity, performance and affordability. Reliability features include: an
advanced servo system that assures media integrity while writing and keeps
the head from wandering off-track, a spatially distributed error
correction code (ECC) that greatly increases the chances for data
recovery, and continuously variable speeds which allow for the constantly
changing data rate from the system, thus eliminating the back-hitching
issues common in competitive solutions.

The ADR30 features an auto-sensing Wide Ultra2 compatible SCSI-3
interface, integrating LVD (Low Voltage Differential) technology, to
assure greater signal integrity for faster and more reliable data
transfers. The auto-sensing feature allows the drive to automatically
adjust to a single ended or LVD bus.
