Key Group of Quality Standard Certifications Reflect

Jetstream Communications, the leader in Voice over Broadband (VoBB) solutions, announced today that they have received four key quality standard certifications from BSI Inc, the world’s leading ISO 9000 Registrar. Jetstream is now the first company of its size to have received TL 9000 certification Pre IPO, but is also the first company worldwide to have received all four certifications at once, ISO 9000, TL 9000, ISO 14001, and TickiT/ISO 9000-3 according to the latest data.

The newly released TL 9000 Quality System Requirements, developed by the Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications Forum (QuEST Forum), is an industry-specific quality system standard for telecommunications that is built on ISO 9001. To achieve TL 9000 certification, companies must meet unique, industry-specific requirements such as customer quality metrics for tracking performance. Included in Jetstream's certification are central office products that have requirements for the three classifications of TL 9000: Hardware, Software, and Service. According to the QuEST Forum at the time of Jetstream's certification on December 19, 2000, no pre-IPO companies worldwide had received TL 9000 certification.
With four key quality standards, Jetstream is addressing the major areas of quality management and concerns. ISO 14001 is a voluntary International Standard that defines the elements of an Environmental Management System (EMS) needed for an organisation to effectively manage its impact on the environment. Key areas of focus that comprise an effective EMS include 1) an environmental policy, 2) a systematic approach to planning, implementation and operations management, 3) corrective action process including audits and 4) regular management review. ISO 9001 is a quality specification for design, development, production and servicing. The TL/9000 is the telecommunications industry extension to the ISO 9000 standards and contains 84 specific additions. TickiT/ISO 9000-3 is the application of the ISO 9001 to organisations that develop software for use in products and services.
