Cambridge, 7 February 2001 - PSINet, one of the world’s most advanced Internet Super Carriers, has strengthened its UK management team with the appointment of Malcolm Johnston as Director of Strategy and Marketing. Chief among Johnston’s responsibilities are to develop product management processes, marketing communications at all levels and partner programmes. Johnston’s 17 years of international telecommunications experience has prepared him well for the fast moving world of the Internet industry.

"The Internet business is a relatively new market yet the issues surrounding product delivery, customer service and retention are largely the same," states Johnston.

Before joining PSINet, Johnston directed the sales and marketing operation at Global Marines Systems, a company responsible for submarine fibre optic cable installation and maintenance service, supplying integrated solutions to the submarine telecoms industry. He also worked for two years in the US, directing Cable and Wireless’ international sales.

Among Johnston’s priorities in his new position will be to reinforce the need to understand and react to the complexities of serving multinational customers on a national level at the same time as keeping and extending the reputation it has for innovation and service.

"Marketing is more science than art and to be successful at it we need to continue bringing order to our products and services and the way we go about selling them," Johnston
displayed to their best effect."
