Employee Internet Management completes security and access product range
N2H2, the world’s largest supplier of Internet content filtering, has today announced that DICA Technologies will be offering its Employee Internet Management (EIM) and filtering software as part of its newly announced CachePilot, a dedicated caching appliance which is aimed at the education, corporate and ISP markets.
Recently merged with Equiinet, DICA Technologies develop and supply a range of easy-to-install Internet security and access products, which also include its flagship secure server appliance NetPilot. DICA product marketing manager, Dave Abbot explains the significance of N2H2’s EIM and filtering expertise:
"Filtering and caching are an integral part of Internet security and productivity, and NetPilot has always included this capability. Our corporate, education and ISP customers began to demand more filtering and caching muscle, and N2H2 software proved to be both robust and effective in our tests for CachePilot. We can now offer ISPs and corporate networks an easy and economical way to increase the capacity and performance of their servers."
N2H2 uses artificial intelligence, web spidering and a substantial Human Review Team to identify Web sites into over forty categories, for example on-line gambling, pornography, bomb-making, heavy bandwidth and hate sites. As a result, use of the Internet with N2H2 filtering increases on-line productivity, reduces legal liability exposure for the company, and promotes profitable and effective use of the web. N2H2 boasts a database of over 48 million blocked URLs, which provides a daily update feed for DICA’s security access products. N2H2’s powerful caching service means that high request sites can be stored locally, reducing bandwidth requirements and traffic load.
Abbot continues, "We envisage NetPilot products continuing to be deployed at the local office and branch office level. The N2H2 solution deployed in CachePilot comes into its own where, say, branch office access is consolidated through a central location which will often demand high-performance filtering and caching. N2H2 has the added benefit of a low cost per desk and minimal overload on a customer’s network management resources"
N2H2 managing director EMEA, Peter Hodgson explains further: "Companies now recognise that filtering and caching are important applications for Internet access. On-line productivity in the office and indeed the classroom, is critical and N2H2 in the CachePilot solution delivers on this. Its Internet security and productivity made simple."
DICA Technologies is also planning to take its solution to the consumer entertainment sector. Abbot concludes: "The ability to provide Internet security and filtering will be paramount as Internet access is made available in high-profile public places such as pubs and clubs. With N2H2 in our products we are poised to be an important player in this sector."
