Categoric OEM deal with Sage to deliver business-critical event notification to Sage Enterprise customers Thursday 15 February 2001 PDF Print Categoric’s alerting technology delivers near real-time decision support for any Sage user London, United Kingdom, February 15, 2001 -- Categoric Software, a leader in alerting infrastructure technology for the multichannel enterprise, today announced a far-reaching OEM deal to provide alerting software to the customer base of Sage Enterprise Solutions (SES), the enterprise solutions division of Sage Group plc, a world leader in accounting and business software. The deal means all 100 major SES resellers in the UK and around the world will offer Categoric alerting technology to their customers, delivering the ability to receive business-critical information as it occurs, anytime, anywhere and via any device. Comments Andy Gass, Managing Director at Sage Enterprise Solutions: "ERP and financial product users are increasingly demanding near real time event notification. They want to know about things immediately they happen. At SES we pride ourselves on listening to our customers and responding to their needs. Sage users have been asking us for alerting functionality for some time and this partnership with Categoric enables us to provide a best of breed solution." The Categoric product will be available from Sage resellers as Business Alerts and offers a platform for building an instant alerting function across an entire enterprise. Categoric's technology is an infrastructure layer that sits above multiple corporate databases and when a given event occurs it instantly alerts individual or multiple users via email, mobile phone, pager or fax. Alerts can be defined either for groups or individual users. For example an international sales manager could define an alert to tell him on his mobile phone in English whenever a customer exceeds his credit limit and automatically alert a credit controller in Paris via email in French at the same time. In another example if an invoice is logged without a purchase order number an automatic email alert can be triggered to the accounts payable department while alerting the supplier by fax. "This is an extremely significant deal for us" says Categoric CEO Thorgeir Einarsson: "Our software is critical to achieving tight control of the supply chain. The reaction from the channel has been extremely enthusiastic and as Sage customers realize what alerting software can do for them we anticipate strong demand from its thousands of customers worldwide. This deal potentially gives us access to over 7,000 customers via the Sage channel, and even more if the alerts are extended to reach the users' suppliers and customers". Alerts can be set up to monitor events relating to key performance indicators (KPIs) so an individual or their boss can keep on track with their objectives and react fast to any problems before they become serious. Alerts mean Sage users can receive their most business critical information as it occurs without having to wait for a report to be generated by which time it may be too late. Alerts can transform Sage's existing transaction processing model by making it proactive: information about key events happening inside the Sage database will go and find the people who most need it. Alerting can also allow managers to focus on their core business, such as sales or customer service or R&D, while managing more general business functions by exception. When an exceptional event occurs on the database they know immediately but the rest of their time can be spent on their key objectives. Concludes Sage’s Gass, "The scalability and robustness that come from Categoric’s alerting technology make it a popular choice for our customers. Also, the Categoric team possesses a high degree of expertise which made it really easy to work with them as an OEM partner." Initially the software will be provided to users of Sage Line 200 and Sage Enterprise customers. Categoric's alerting technology will be available to Sage customers shrink-wrapped as Business Alerts from February 2001.
