Madrid, 14 February 2001. MyAlert, the first m-commerce WAP portal, has announced its new strategy as an applications service provider (ASP).

Presenting the company’s financial results, Jorge Mata, CEO and founder of MyAlert, highlighted the "international dimension" of the company that had an income of 4.9 million euros in 2000, of which 24% came from Spain and 76% from the main European markets.

The value of the company also increased considerably last year, growing from 14.2 million euros in December 1999 to 163.8 million euros one year later.

MyAlert has increased the number of its subscribers from 1,000 in February 2000 to 2.2 million in February 2001, this figure is expected to rise to 4 million by the end of the year.

Jorge Mata also announced that MyAlert’s international expansion continues with the recent purchase of the Bulgarian Skala Software, dedicated to software development and professional services. MyAlert is finalising the 100% acquisition of Swedish GoYada, an ASP and wireless company.

MyAlert’s latest big name technology partner, Nokia joins the list of technology partners and will offer MyAlert’s services through WAP, GPRS and UMTS. MyAlert’s other top technology partners include Brokat, Broadvision, Hewlett Packard and Future 121.

Jorge Mata said that MyAlert expects to give potential to its business unit as an application service provider (ASP). This division of the company develops technology solutions according to the needs of MyAlert’s clients, which include BSCH (Universia), Adecco, ebankinter, Vitaminic, Inicia, Ixir and Consors. The best known business unit, MyAlert Portal, offers services through its Internet site to both companies and individuals and intends to increase its number of services.

MyAlert is the first ASP and "m-commerce" portal (mobile electronic commerce). It is a company of Spanish origin with a strong international expansion, that has integrated the internet with mobile telephones on a global scale. Through one-to-one technology, it provides personalised services for mobile telephones, and it also enables mobile commerce transactions through any GSM, GPRS or WAP telephone. In addition, MyAlert is an application service provider (ASP), recently purchasing Future 121, a wireless technology leading Finnish company, for the amount of 500 million pesetas

The company, founded 1999 by Jorge Mata, has offices in Madrid, Miami, London, Munich, Milan and Paris and a staff of 130 professionals. It has more than 2.2 million users and expects to have 4 million users by the end of 2001. MyAlert closed its second financial round last year, one of the highest risk capital in Internet in Europe, as it was over 50 million euros, investors included Nomura, Brokat, 3i, Broadvision, BBVA, BSCH, MCH and Europa Press. In December 2000 Endesa joined them, closing the final stage of the second financial round.
