Intrusion.com Appoints Richard Murphy to Drive Forward New Channel Focus Monday 19 February 2001 PDF Print Security specialist Intrusion.com launches initiative to expand VAR channel Intrusion.com, a leading provider of enterprise security solutions for the information-driven economy, today announced the appointment of Richard Murphy as General Manager for Northern European territories. In his new role Murphy will spearhead sales into the UK, Ireland, Netherlands and Nordic regions of Intrusion.com’s industry-leading range of security software and appliances, designed to help companies protect critical information assets by quickly detecting, analysing and responding to network- and host-based attacks. Richard Murphy comes to Intrusion.com from Axent, global supplier of security software solutions, where he held the position of Channel Sales Manager, responsible for UK, Benelux and Denmark. Prior to that, he was UK channel manager for Secure Computing Corp. Murphy also brings with him direct channel experience from senior roles within major companies such as networking distributor Azlan and computer and software reseller ComputaCenter. One of Murphy’s primary responsibilities within his current role will be to develop Intrusion.com’s VAR channel, sourcing and recruiting high-quality, specialist resellers throughout the Northern European region, in line with the company’s re-positioning. "Intrusion.com already has a very strong distribution channel in Europe, with major names such as UniPalm in the UK, Fulcrum Distribution in Ireland and Rinner in The Netherlands," stated Murphy. "Our new strategy is to focus on building a stronger reseller channel in order to increase our European presence and accelerate the regional uptake of Intrusion.com’s security solutions." He continued, "The IT industry has hit a bottleneck in that there is a huge shortage of personnel resources, particularly in security. Those industry consultants and engineers that are suitably qualified are asking huge sums of money, therefore the sensible remedy for systems vendors is to invest in the reseller channel, providing them with the training and resources they need to build ongoing customer relationships and provide the highest level of service." Richard Murphy’s appointment coincides with the promotion of Neil Venus to executive director of MSPs (Management Service Providers), in charge of international sales within the MSP environment.
