Opens new opportunities for partners to provide mobile data solutions to corporate companies.
21 February 2001, Newark, CA and Basingtoke, UK - iOra (www.iOra.com), supplier of solutions for managing mobile content, today announced its Partner Strategy that will allow channel partners to take a share of the growing mobile data management market. According to Gartner, the number of mobile business professionals will grow from 76 million in 2001 to over 140 million by 2003. With the mobile workforce becoming more demanding corporate companies are facing increased challenges of mobile data management – this provides a significant opportunity for software and solution providers to supply solutions to the corporate market.
According to recent research conducted by Arthur Andersen , 66% of organizations currently use laptops for remote access to corporate content, but cited lack of bandwidth, poor reliability of service, and security concerns as key constraints for successful use of mobile data. The report comments that “Most organizations are seeking to achieve cost savings through quick and convenient access to corporate information”, and calls for “a partnership approach between business end users, IT departments, network operators, software vendors and consultants – to enable a clearer picture of how to unlock the value of mobile data.”
iOra Mobile Intranet addresses the problems outlined by providing secure, offline access to corporate content, with high-speed synchronization optimized for low-bandwidth connections. Resulting benefits are improved management and security of information for the mobile workforce.
There are three strands to iOra’s channel, with each receiving appropriate marketing and sales support. The strands are Strategic Partners, Resellers, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
Paddy Falls, CEO and co-founder at iOra explained, “Based on Gartner estimates, there is a market opportunity of $1 billion in 2001 rising to over $3 billion by 2003, driven by businesses needing to make their remote and mobile business professionals more productive. Our aim in distributing iOra Mobile Intranet via the channel is to widen the availability and application of the software that is a key enabler for corporate adoption of mobile computing. As the market becomes more aware of the product and is more widely used, we believe that iOra’s patent pending Epsilon technology, on which Mobile Intranet is based, will become the de facto standard for mobile data management.”
The separate elements of the strategy are expected to feed into each other and will work in the following manner:
Strategic Partners will include System Integrators and ISVs. Systems Integrators will be building Intranets for their corporate clients, and by partnering with iOra will have the opportunity of providing further services by “mobilizing” them.
ISVs can apply for product certification, to verify integration and compatibility with iOra Mobile Intranet. Endorsed ISVs will have the opportunity to work more closely with iOra with joint marketing campaigns and customer implementation.
Reseller Partners will include both Value Added Resellers (VARs) and Service Providers (SPs), who will market and sell iOra Mobile Intranet alongside their own products to offer a greater and more complete solution to their customers. Service Providers would include, for example, Application Service Provider (ASP), Wireless ASP (WASP), Internet Service Provider (ISP), and Managed Service Provider (MSP) vendors.
OEM partners are those who wish to incorporate the iOra products or technology within their own product offering, resulting in a highly integrated and single-branded solution for the target market. iOra’s Epsilon Technology is particularly suitable for OEM opportunities, with many potential applications in remote and mobile data management (e.g. backup, email acceleration, etc.)
