London 27.2.2001: OpenTrade Technologies has appointed Edward Roberts as Industry Marketing Manager with responsibility for marketing Orbita, the real time business messaging system into the finance sector.
Edward has 12 years experience in marketing for the IT industry. He was previously for seven years with Gresham Computing, the e-business integration company, where he was head of marketing. As head of Gresham's e-business services division he was responsible for building some of the earliest and most successful integrated e-business systems for major blue chip customers.
According to OpenTrade’s chief executive, Joel Jervis, 'The marketing function is very important to us because Orbita has such wide application, from financial services organisations through to blue-chip end users as well as to our strategic partners such as systems integrators and consultants. Following our recent appointment of Tony Kingston as marketing director, the appointment of an industry heavyweight like Edward further strengthens our top notch marketing team, giving us depth as well as strength.'
Edward Roberts says, 'Every marketing professional wants the opportunity to use their skills on a product of major importance -- one that can really make a business difference. For me, Orbita is that product, and bringing the message of its benefits to the financial services industry and our consultancy partners is a challenge that I relish.'
Edward is married with two children and lives in Sussex. His interests include outdoor pursuits such as hill walking and cycling, and he is also musical director of an amateur theatre group.
OpenTrade Technologies is the independent software house that invented real time business messaging in the 1980s. With offices in London, Frankfurt and Milan, OpenTrade has been supplying solutions based on this technology across Europe for 17 years.
OpenTrade provides the key component of a number of mission critical solutions for the financial services industry - its technology is used daily by institutions such as the Swiss National Bank, Banca Intesa and the Helsinki Stock Exchanges to make split-second judgements.
Now, real time business messaging is in demand outside finance and banking in a wide range of industries. OpenTrade's high-performance business messaging system, Orbita, is being deployed as an essential component in applications from vehicle scheduling to public share dealing over the Web.
Technically, Orbita enables the reliable, efficient distribution of real time information from a data source or publisher to any number of subscribers. Built to transport and deliver tens of thousands of messages per second per node, Orbita provides a unique high performance publish/subscribe messaging architecture that supports high-speed message transport, and enables massive system and application scalability. The publish/subscribe mechanism allows information about business events to be published efficiently and very rapidly across private and public networks for B2B and B2C communications over any IP network.
OpenTrade is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Cairnsford Technology Group.
