‘Technology works today and is not reliant on speculative 3G roll-out’

London – March 6, 2001 - Pervasic, the pan-European wireless ASP, launches a programme to promote the use of its proprietary wireless technology as a carrier class solution to major players in the European communications marketplace. Pervasic believes its technology can give these companies a major advantage in the race to enter the burgeoning wireless ASP marketplace and rapidly deliver highly effective value-added wireless data services. “A key factor is that Pervasic’s wireless technology works today and is not reliant on speculative 3G roll-out,” said Mark Potts, Pervasic CEO. “Using our platform carriers and operators can offer truly effective value-added wireless services now and start to establish a customer base in this very lucrative marketplace.”

Pervasic has appointed Kevin Dent to the newly created position of European Business Development Director, Carriers & Networks to head the new programme. Based out of Vienna, Kevin’s role will be to work with ILECs (incumbent local exchange carriers), CLECs (competitive LECs), broadband network operators and other European communications companies to promote the unique advantages of the Pervasic wireless solution.

“Pervasic’s strategy is to form joint venture alliances and partnerships with European carriers. Pervasic will provide the wireless hardware and software technology and our partners will provide the communications infrastructure and market the wireless data services. We are already in discussions with potential partners in several European markets,” said Dent.

Dent was formerly National and International Key Account Sales Manager with the British Telecom subsidiary, Esat Telecom and has also held senior positions within the collocation industry.

Pervasic’s patented wireless technology, which the company has developed over several years, was designed from the ground up to address the unique characteristics of wireless data and is ideally suited to the challenges of scalable carrier class deployment and seamless network integration. Pervasic’s architecture uses a proprietary, “asynchronous messaging” wireless communications technology that incorporates advanced features not found in competitive solutions that have evolved from wired networks. As a result Pervasic’s technology performs extremely effectively over existing wireless infrastructure.

Pervasic recently embarked on an ambitious programme to rapidly extend its wireless ASP footprint to all major European markets and has already launched W.ASP points-of-presence (POPs) in London, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels and Stockholm. Pervasic sees little conflict between its own W.ASP service and the new services it hopes to enable.

“The business model for our own wireless ASP service focuses on the B2W (business to workforce) sector that we address in partnership with horizontal, vertical and geographic channel resellers. Carriers and network operators on the other hand focus more on the B2C (business to consumer) marketplace where they have unique strengths and market access,” says Mark Potts.
