The impact of Internet-based solutions on the supply chain will be the topic for the keynote address led by Jonathan Merry, Head of e-Business at Coca Cola Enterprises at the forthcoming Softworld Supply Chain event (28 - 29 March 2001, Hall 19, NEC, Birmingham). The session, entitled: "Putting the ‘e’ in Supply Chain - the role of new technologies in an efficient supply chain" will explore some of the features of the supply chain processes that make them ideal candidates for transformation using Internet technologies.
Merry will also provide an ‘insiders view’ of e-Marketplaces and e-Exchanges and the benefits that they can deliver to improve business efficiency. Using specific examples, he will discuss how these e-Exchanges may effect supply chains and how increased collaboration could transform an entire business. The session will conclude with some predictions for the future and Merry will outline some strategies that will help businesses to stay ahead of the competition.
"Many companies are struggling to understand exactly what consequences Internet based supply chain and collaboration solutions will have on their business" says Merry. "It is all too easy to follow a fad and jump on the e-Band wagon by employing an e-Strategy. However, organisations need to consider strengths and weaknesses and look closely at the solutions available if they are to truly transform their business."
The keynote session takes place within the B2B Commerce Masterclass Theatre, which is a main feature of the B2Bsolutions event, a new element of the show for 2001. The theatre will also play host to sessions from AMR Research, USA and Europe and Transco (part of the Lattice Group of companies).
The Softworld seminar programme includes a number of breakfast briefings and keynote sessions within the Supply Chain masterclass theatre. This features sessions from organisations such as BT, Sourcerer Ltd, a member of the Rolls Royce group of companies, Currie European Transport, PricewatehouseCoopers and KPMG.
Softworld Supply Chain comprises an exhibition featuring over 100 leading suppliers as well as a series of vendor seminars. The new B2Bsolutions event running within Softworld Supply Chain comprises an exhibition of B2B and c-Commerce solution providers and includes a test drive zone, an educational programme, dedicated seminars and a Solutions Centre hosted by leading consultants from AMR.
