Croydon, Surrey, UK,14th March, 2001:

Crawfish Interactive ec-static about Digital TV deal

Crawfish Interactive’s vision will bring mass market gaming to the Digital TV arena!

Crawfish Interactive has announced that it is to provide game content for the PlayJam interactive entertainment channel, owned by Static 2358.

The first game ‘Spin Cycle’, has been developed in-house by Crawfish Interactive and will help expand the manner and platform in which games can be played. By providing content for PlayJam, the firm is hoping to increase the reach of its consumer base and add greater value to the Digital TV experience.

Static 2358 was founded in 1997 and its impressive list of customers include The Cartoon Network, MTV, Film Four, QVC, Sky Television, ONdigital, Pace and Teletext. In December 2000 Static launched PlayJam, the world’s first free to air interactive entertainment channel across the UK’s digital television networks.

"Crawfish Interactive has proven itself to be one of the premier game development studios in Europe and we're very excited to have sealed this deal. By adding games to our already impressive portfolio, PlayJam will continue to cement its position as the leading interactive entertainment service in Europe." Said David Bishop, Games Manager at Static 2358.

"We view development of games for Digital TV as a natural progression for Crawfish. The games are designed around simple principles and provide excellent gameplay for a mass market audience of mums and dads as well as kids and teenagers." commented Cameron Sheppard, President of Crawfish Interactive.

‘Spin Cycle’ is a game based around the principles of Roulette. The roulette wheel is replaced with a washing machine and players place bets on items of clothing. Once the Spin on the washing machine stops an item of clothing appears and the player will either win or lose. With 30 spins each game the players aim to achieve a hi-score and be eligible for a range of exciting prizes.
