Building the Next Generation Network The Next Generation Network describes the convergence of the circuit-switched telephone network, the wireless network and the Internet onto a single packet-based network that enables flexible, scalable and cost-efficient services. Dialogic will be showcasing a broad range of technologies and resources for building, buying and hosting open, standards-based platforms for the Next Generation Network. The Voice Portal Reference System (VPRS), a new hardware and software system will be featured at the show. It combines the power, reliability and high volume capabilities of Intel(r) Architecture and enables phone-based access to Internet content through speech recognition. All major speech technology providers such as IBM, L&H, Nuance, Philips Speech Processing, SpeechWorks, Temic and Vocalis have announced their support for this initiative and for Dialogic’s CSP (Continuous Speech Processing), a technology that extends the way speech technologies can be deployed on its extensive range of voice processing hardware products. Other carrier-grade building blocks being exhibited at the show include Dialogic high-availability cPCI components and new SS7 technology from recently acquired Datakinetics and Ziatech. The latest in Dialogic converged communications technology for enterprises will also be highlighted, including the recently launched Intel(r) Converged Communications Platform, a standards-based platform for e-business contact centers, IP gateways, and a communications application servers. The framework is built on the company’s VOS development software and contains a set of VOS interfaces (RLLs), VOS source code and documentation. User features include: Barge-in, Speaker Verification, Email reading (Spanish & English). Services to be demoed include movies, directory services/ yellow pages (hotels, restaurants, pharmacies, etc.) and lottery results. The framework also supports L&H’s RealSpeak text-to-speech technology and Nuance’s natural language speech technologies. Techno et Control http://www.technoetcontrol.de will be demonstrating several next generation services including an automatic teleconferencing service, a mass fax and fax-on-demand handling system, and a unified messaging and mass call handling platform for network-based announcements. Time Communications http://www.time.com.tr will be showcasing its VOXarè Communication Management Platform (VOXarè CMP). The modular VOXarè CMP is capable of switching voice and data on an ATM backbone integrated into TCP/IP network. Using the company’s VOXaré Scenario Builder development software, system owners can build flexible ACD, IVR, voice mail, fax mail, SMS (Short Message Services), Contact Center and SoftPBX solutions.
