Bango.net expands its reach
exponentially through new Asian franchise network established with leading UK business guru
Bango.net, developers of the Bango Number System, a technology that increases the accessibility of on-line information through mobile devices, announced today an agreement with leading UK investment and consultancy business, Oxbridge Capital Limited led by Sir Paul Judge and Dr. Kenny Tang, to establish a network of Bango.net franchises throughout Asia and the Middle East.
Through the agreement, Oxbridge Capital will provide advice, management and resources to help establish the franchise network. Work with Oxbridge prior to the formal agreement has focussed on Malaysia and Singapore and has already resulted in Bango.net reaching agreement with leading Singapore mobile operator, Mobile One. Users can now use Bango Numbers from the M1 portal "Mi World", thus Bango enabling content for this fast growing, youth Orientated WAP portal. This is a major step in the establishment of the Singapore franchise, which has immediate access to over 800,000 subscribers and forms a strong base for expansion in the region.
The franchise network
The Bango Asian franchise network is expected to cover twelve countries and over 120 million subscribers by the end of 2002.
Bango.net provides the powerful and reliable technology infrastructure to deliver users to mobile Internet sites, and ensures seamless worldwide operation of the service across WAP, iMode, PC, and iDTV terminals. The local franchise is responsible for investment in local sales support and marketing services and will work closely with mobile operators in the territory to help them increase utilisation of mobile services.
The Bango franchises will fully support and service local businesses, which desire to promote their on-line content to mobile users. Bango will help them to accelerate responses from customers and will also open up international opportunities.
Empowering businesses to reach their customers
"Bango overcomes the key challenge faced by businesses in the mobile Internet field - providing a convenient means for customers to reach online content." said Bango.net co-founder and VP alliances Anil Malhotra. "In many Asian countries the Bango Number System becomes an even more compelling solution. Bango Number technology bypasses language barriers and empowers businesses to draw potential customers directly to their on-line content."
Businesses are already getting closer to their customers and prospects by simply printing Bango Numbers in off-line media. Someone reading an article about a company can now simply pick up their mobile phone, enter the accompanying Bango number and achieve immediate, pinpoint access to relevant additional information.
Most people in Asia use the Internet through a mobile phone, and have never used PC internet. Old style URLs are simply not familiar to them.
The use of numbers to reach information is endemic, world-wide. Bango Numbers are easy to print, easy to promote, and easy to enter into phones and other devices. Now, with Bango Numbers becoming readily available and accessible in these countries and with the local support of mobile operators and portals eager to help their subscribers get fast and easy access to content, this challenge has been overcome.
Bango and Oxbridge
The relationship between Bango and Oxbridge is already showing results and both parties are excited about the potential of the partnerships.
Oxbridge's Sir Paul Judge has wide franchising experience, including Cadbury Schweppes, Premier Brands and Boddington Group. He is fully committed to his field, as demonstrated by his recent donation of $12million to help establish the business school - The Judge Institute of Management Studies - at Cambridge University. He is also a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Marketeers.
"Sir Paul Judge is a branding and franchise master," noted Bango.net's co-founder and CEO Ray Anderson. "We are learning a great deal from working with him and his team. He shares our vision and has great hopes for Bango.net. We believe that in the next few years Bango will be more widely used than any brand he has ever worked with."
Dr. Kenny Tang, Founder and CEO of Oxbridge Capital said, "Due to the strength of the Bango.net opportunity, we have been able to establish high level contacts among mobile operators, ISP's and Governments throughout Asia and the Middle East - thus bringing leading edge and compelling solutions to many countries that are crying out for them.
"We are now following through with the establishment of local companies in which Bango.net and other partners have a shareholding, which can represent Bango.net and support customers in several countries. In our experience, the Bango.net opportunity is unprecedented - explaining our desire to work closely with the company," continued Tang.
