PR Firm Takes Cut of Game Show Millions Via Intense Media Endurance Training

London-based PR agency Rainier is cutting the UK’s most aggressive and devious game show hosts down to size by taking nervous contestants under its wing of experience.

Rainier has launched an intense flavour of media training – nDure - engineered to help TV quiz contestants to hold their own against Anne Robinson, Jeremy Paxman, Chris Tarrant – and Richard Whiteley. The agency believes its 10 per cent cut of winnings and subsequent royalty earnings in lieu of fees will provide a useful revenue top-up.

If successful in completing a general questionnaire geared to their target game show, trainees spend a day being grilled by Rainier’s team in a windowless basement room furnished only with a spotlight. Air temperature can be increased to as much as 40 degrees centigrade to give trainees a realistic TV studio experience.

Then the training turns a corner, as would-be contestants are taught manipulative mind techniques, Assertive Response™ actions and the basics of telepathy, all tools with which they can outwit their hosts.

Top of the Rainier hit list are contestants scheduled to appear on TV with:

-Anne Robinson, The Weakest Link

-Jeremy Paxman, University Challenge

-Chris Tarrant, Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

-Richard Whiteley, Countdown

“The media has treated the game-show loving public with contempt by encouraging show hosts to destroy the mental wills of contestants,” said Stephen Waddington, Rainier’s joint managing director. “Our counter offensive is PR at it’s best: direct, dutiful and dirty.”

The huge growth in competitive and voyeuristic TV shows, where previously unknown individuals can be plucked from obscurity and propelled into the media glare, had provided the catalyst for the new Rainier service, Waddington said.

“We are striking a blow for freedom from media oppression, he added. “Fresh from an intensive bout of Rainier’s new media training, mere mortals will be fit to take on the world – and Anne Robinson.”
