The Retail Solutions Conference, June 2001 attracts leading names in the Retail Industry
Retail Solutions enhances its status as Europe’s largest and best attended retail IT exhibition with the addition of a new-style, two-day conference and awards evening. Sponsored by Eqos, the Retail Solutions Conference on 5th and 6th June 2001, NEC, Birmingham has already attracted many of the leading names in retail who will address key issues such as selecting and building an effective multi-channel strategy, brand management across multiple channels, m-commerce, flawless fulfilment and customer service in the new economy, using CRM to increase profits and the impact of trading exchanges.

The Finance Bill (07/04/00) contains provisions for spending by small businesses on information and communications technology over the following three years. The aim is to encourage small businesses to invest in IT and to embrace E-commerce and to meet the government’s objective to make the UK the best environment in the world for
e-commerce by 2002:
· Small businesses that invest in Information and Communication Technology equipment (computers, software and internet-enabled mobile phones) over the three years from 1 April 2000 will be able to claim 100% first year capital allowances, thereby gaining immediate relief on the whole cost of their investment.
· A £60m package to help small firms get on-line and deliver service to them on-line. This includes £20m for a new call-centre and web-based advice and information services, £10m for a advice and training for small firms on using IT and £30m to build secure infrastructure for electronic communications between government, business and citizens.
