Easy-To-Install, Low-Cost, In-Building Solution Benefits Service Providers

RC Networks, Inc.T, a leading provider of in-building broadband access equipment, today announced the RC300 LongReachT Ethernet (LRE) product, the latest addition to the company's industry-leading RC8000Plusä product line. The LRE product enables the distribution of broadband access within a multi-tenant unit (MTU) building where wireless applications are being deployed to deliver high-speed services. Through radio links with up to 10Mbps of WAN connectivity working with RC Networks' RC300 LongReach Ethernet product, multi-tenant buildings, regardless of wiring conditions, now can be provisioned easily and economically.

"Incorporating RC Networks' RC300 LongReach Ethernet product into our broadband wireless access solution is a natural extension of our partnership," said Michael C. Harman, senior vice president of PhatPipe, Inc. "This product's ease of installation and low cost makes it an important addition to our suite of in-building access solutions for industrial tenants nationwide because it allows us to provide better service to our customers and capitalise on new revenue opportunities offered by wireless applications."

PhatPipe, a leading provider of broadband infrastructure and services to the owners of industrial real estate and their customers, formed a strategic partnership with RC Networks in October of last year, which included a volume equipment purchase agreement of more than $5 million. A beta customer for the RC300 LongReach Ethernet product, Phatpipe has been deploying it since November 2000.

"RC Networks' LongReach technology, like its AnyPairT technology and extensive DSL patent filings, once again demonstrates our continued dedication to the development of technologies that overcome the physical and economic obstacles that impede broadband distribution in the MTU market," said Seton Kasmir, founder, chairman and chief technology officer of RC Networks.

Multi-Tenant Market Poised For Growth
According to a report by market research firm Cahners In-Stat Group, the U.S. market for multi-tenant broadband equipment and services will grow from $371 million in 2000 to nearly $2 billion in 2004. Factors contributing to this growth include the deployment of high-speed Internet connections to the MTU market, which will enable the delivery of new value-added services such as e-commerce, telephony, video and network management. Demand for broadband equipment will grow rapidly in order to build the infrastructure needed to deploy these services.
