Announces New Performance Management Family; Modularises and Enhances
Current Product Offerings

Marimba, Inc today announced two new product initiatives as part of its goal
to provide industry-leading systems management solutions built for
e-business - allowing Global 2000 companies to better address the challenges
brought by the Internet. Marimba introduced its new performance management
product family, which is designed for customers who need to monitor the
performance of their e-business applications and services. In addition,
Marimba announced that its Castanet® and Timbale(tm) products will be
enhanced and re-branded as part of the company's change management offering,
providing customers with greater functionality and flexibility.

Today's launch emphasises Marimba's mission to provide world-class systems
management solutions built with Internet expertise. "This is a significant
announcement for Marimba as we move into our next phase of growth," said
John Olsen, president and chief executive officer of Marimba. "Marimba's
new performance management offering will compliment our existing change
management products, giving our customers industry-leading solutions in two
crucial systems management disciplines. Additionally, with Marimba and its
partners, enterprise customers will receive best-of-breed solutions for
their most important e-business initiatives."

Ronni Colville, research director at Gartner in Stamford, Connecticut, said,
"For enterprises with e-business requirements, it is important to choose a
vendor with Internet expertise in the systems management space that can
provide complementary management disciplines with tight integration, and
that can offer enterprises valuable one-stop shopping."

Systems Management Built for e-business
Systems management for e-business addresses the key management issues that
IT professionals face when deploying, managing, and monitoring their
Internet, intranet, and extranet applications and services. Traditional
systems management has generally focused on managing IT systems and
resources within the enterprise without incorporating the Internet as an
integral infrastructure component.

Marimba's systems management solutions have been engineered from the ground
up to address the challenges brought by the Internet era, providing IT
departments with the flexibility to better manage their resources, increase
efficiency and reduce costs.

Systems Management Product Families
With this announcement, Marimba has established a competitive advantage by
providing customers with product families that address two of the key areas
within systems management. Marimba is leveraging its Internet expertise to
deliver a new product family in the Performance Management area, while
continuing to enhance and expand the functionality of its existing product
families in the Change Management area.

*Performance Management Product Family
Marimba's new performance management product family will monitor performance
of critical online applications and services to help enterprises maintain
optimal performance and minimise costly downtime. The first member in this
product family - the Marimba Web Traffic Monitor - is currently scheduled to
be generally available in mid-summer of 2001, and will provide a real-time
service-level view of the performance and availability of Web-enabled
services and applications. The Web Traffic Monitor will allow enterprises
to react in real time to Web performance degradation issues, increasing the
reliability and availability of online services.

*Change Management Product Families
Marimba reaffirmed its commitment to its change management product families
by modularising and announcing enhancements to its existing Castanet and
Timbale lines, giving customers greater flexibility when choosing a
management solution for server environments, desktops, laptops, mobile
systems, PDAs, and Internet-enabled devices. Based on Marimba's Castanet
and Timbale technologies, Marimba's change management products are now
available in three product families: Server Management, Desktop/Mobile
Management, and Embedded Management. Additionally, Marimba today announced
significant product enhancements to each of these families.
