WIPRO TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES BLUETOOTH PRODUCT QUALIFICATION Monday 2 April 2001 PDF Print Strengthens customer confidence for an evolving technology Wipro Technologies today announced that BlueWave, their Bluetooth™ protocol stack software has been awarded Bluetooth qualification from the Bluetooth Qualification Body (BQB). The Bluetooth qualification is mandatory for manufacturers to use the official Bluetooth logo and trademark. The objective of the program is to ensure interoperability among different solutions and vendors of Bluetooth technology, and to enforce a consistent standard for implementing the Bluetooth wireless technology. It is the Bluetooth Qualification Body (BQB) that reviews product test reports and is authorized to list a product on the Qualified Product List. The qualification testing for Wipro’s BlueWave stack was performed in conjunction with CeteCom Inc. (www.cetecom.com), a recognized BQB. The qualification criteria demanded protocol conformance tests, interoperability tests, compliance declarations and documentation reviews as defined in the Bluetooth Qualification Program Reference Document (PRD), released by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group’s Bluetooth Qualification Association (BQA). The Bluetooth Special Interest Group, the consortium that maintains the Bluetooth standard, has more than 2000 members. ‘The certification of the BlueWave stack underscores our commitment to this exciting technology. We are confident that this high quality solution will offer our customers a vital time to market advantage’’ said M.Divakaran, Chief Executive, Embeeded & Internet Access Solutions, Wipro Technologies. As cutting edge technology solutions providers with the promise of delivering a competitive time-to-market advantage, Wipro Technologies has a rapidly growing portfolio of Intellectual Property (IP) blocks for the networking and wireless markets. Wipro’s Bluetooth Baseband and Protocol software solutions belong to Wipro’s IP repository, and can be leveraged for Wipro’s custom design projects, or licensed by customers. The BlueWave protocol software stack is a modular and highly portable implementation of the Bluetooth baseband software, Link Manager Protocol, Host Controller Interface (HCI) and upper layers. The Host Controller layer is available with UART, RS232 as well as with USB transport stream interfaces. The BlueWave software is available as a hosted stack as well as an embedded stack, and has been validated with third party Bluetooth hardware. Wipro’s BlueBase Baseband Controller and BlueWave stack together form a complete Bluetooth solution that can be easily deployed in a broad range of embedded applications, be they custom Bluetooth system designs or IC implementations. Wipro’s Bluetooth IPs have already been licensed to multiple customers in the US and Japan.
