TenderTrust(r) selected for UK Government e-Tendering pilot
E-commerce solutions provider, TrustMarque International, will provide the technology and software solution for the Office of Government Commerce's (OGC) e-tendering pilot, which was announced earlier today at Public Sector Expo, London.
TenderTrust(r) is the world's first smartcard, Internet-based, secure electronic tendering system which enables both purchasers and suppliers to easily manage the entire tendering process. OGC TenderTrust, as it will be named for the pilot, has been designed to meet the demanding requirements of both public and private sector tendering. It uses standard X509 banking strength digital certificates, issued by the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).
The bid was successfully led by RBS in conjunction with TrustMarque who has developed the TenderTrust(r) technology. The contract was awarded after a detailed selection process completed by the OGC. The bid was successful despite stiff competition.
Peter Gershon, Chief Executive of the OGC, speaking at the Public Sector Expo today, said; "This project gives the UK Government the opportunity to be at the very forefront of the development of electronic tendering."
On successful completion of the pilot it is the intention of the OGC to award a four-year contract to roll out TenderTrust(r) across civil central government departments and agencies.
