LONDON, April 5th, 2001) - Factiva announced today the launch of Factiva Select, the most flexible product available through Factiva Integration, a suite of tools to integrate Factiva's world-class news and business information into intranets, portals and mobile devices.

Factiva Select is a filtered XML content feed that allows customers to readily integrate Factiva's global content into any number of end-user applications or computing environments. In addition, customers can co-mingle up to 90 days of Factiva content with third-party and internal content to build a searchable, universally indexed content collection making work practices more efficient.

"Customers have been asking us for a new way of integrating our world-class content into their internal applications," said Clare Hart, president and CEO of Factiva. "Factiva Select provides our customers with the external news they need in XML format so they can develop a flexible solution for surfacing and disseminating this information throughout their organization no matter what computing environment they are working in."

"The right content delivered to the right user at the right time is the ultimate aim for a strong enterprise information system," said Susan Feldman, Director of Document and Content Technologies at IDC. "By collecting and organizing disparate systems into a seamless interface, enterprises can save research time with the ability to launch a single search that reaches all information repositories and make critical decisions based on all the data available to them. In addition, XML-tagged content can be delivered to the appropriate user in any format to suit any device being used for access, whether it is the desktop or even a wireless device."

Factiva Select subscribers gain access to more than 4,000 highly respected global, multi-language sources from Factiva's collection of global news and business information, which includes The Wall Street Journal, Le Monde, The Times of London, The South China Morning Post and the Dow Jones, Reuters and The Associated Press newswires.

A Versatile Content Solution

Factiva content specialists work with customers to build news folders pertinent to their individual business interests. The content is filtered with the help of Factiva Intelligent Indexing, a powerful categorization scheme that universally applies industry, region, news topic and company codes across the Factiva content set. Customers then pull the filtered content to their corporate Web server where it can be stored and processed for up to 90 days.

The XML format allows customers to deliver content in specific languages to offices around the world via local language interfaces, build a searchable archive of up to 90 days of Factiva content or send Factiva news to mobile phones, PDAs or pagers. Customers can also universally index and integrate Factiva content with internal content, third party content or enterprise information portal software, ensuring relevant search results across all types of content.

Factiva Consulting, a team of technical and editorial experts, is available on a contract basis to customers who prefer custom implementations of Factiva products, including Factiva Select.
