Shardlow, UK - April 9, 2001 - Esker today announced that International Data Corporation's recently published Worldwide Computer-Based Facsimile Market Forecast and Analysis, 2000-2005 reports that Esker moved up in market share during 2000 to become the third largest fax server vendor worldwide based on market share. Esker's movement up the ladder of worldwide market share is significant when compared to the 15th spot Esker occupied in the 1999 IDC report, making their 2000 market share increase the most dramatic of any vendor in the report. Esker attributes the increase to their acquisition of VSI, the introduction of their innovative General Document Recognition feature for enabling e-delivery of legacy or packaged application documents without code-level modification, and their strengths in the production fax and inbound fax reception segments of the market.
"Esker has taken advantage of a period of consolidation in the fax server industry to greatly increase their market position," states Peter Davidson, fax industry analyst with Davidson Consulting and IDC. "This not only bodes them well for maintaining and growing their fax server business, but also puts the company in a strong position to capture share in the emerging e-document delivery market, in which documents are exchanged via email and Internet technologies as well as fax."
"The findings in the IDC report provide validation that Esker's strategy for this market has been successful," says Bashrat Din, Managing Director Northern Europe. "We've made intelligent acquisitions over the last two years that have not only enhanced our fax server product offering, but enabled us to extend our solution beyond fax into the realm of intelligent information delivery, supporting a wide variety of formats and transports. Not only has Esker achieved a leadership position in the marketplace, but the perceived threats to the fax server industry, such as e-mail, have become features of our new multichannel content delivery solution, Pulse. This provides us with a tremendous advantage when we compete with single-channel content delivery fax-only servers, because given the choice, customers prefer the more flexible multichannel solution of Pulse that provides fax, e-mail, web, and wireless information delivery capabilities."
