CBBC LAUNCHES WITH VICTORIA REAL Wednesday 11 April 2001 PDF Print Victoria Real’s interactive service for Children’s BBC has launched Victoria Real, the leading interactive media production company, has developed and delivered an interactive service for CBBC which ties in with the return of CBBC’s series - Xchange. Xchange which will be broadcast during the Easter and Summer holidays is aimed at seven to 12 year olds and proved to be one of the most popular children’s shows in Summer 2000. The show encourages participation activities during the holidays and the site reflects this with its three areas or ‘islands’ : Xpress (for arts, music and design), Xplore (for science, history and geography) and Xtreme (for sports, hobbies and pastimes). Each island boasts interactive games and quizzes which are linked to the National Curriculum. Making the site and games fun while educational was key to Victoria Real’s selection as the development company for the Xchange site. With its new web offering Xchange aims to take interactivity and the use of the web by a TV show to new levels. There is regular cross over between the show and site, with references being made on each medium to the other. A large on and offline competition is running in conjunction with the series.
