EGO to sponsor World B-Boy Tour
Online gaming specialists Egomaniacs, part of Affinity Internet Holdings
PLC, are sponsoring Swindon's Futuriztic Breakin Krew. The crew will be
competing in The World B-Boy Tour 2001, a showcase of breakdancing, body
popping and deejaying, taking place at The Astoria, London, from 23rd-26th
The Swindon based b-boy outfit, the youngest team competing, used a national
appeal for sponsorship as well as local fundraising to accumulate the
capital needed to compete. With support from EGO, the Futuriztic Breakin
Krew will be going head-to-head with the top breaking outfits from around
Europe. Other team sponsors include Sega, Nike and Tommy Hillfiger.
The event promises to be one of the highlights of this year's youth culture
calendar, and will be televised over twelve episodes on terrestrial TV. It
is expected to pull in viewing figures of over twelve million in the UK, and
fifty million worldwide, reinforcing the global popularity of the eighties
Gaming, like hop-hop, was conceived in the seventies and pigeon-holed as a
passing craze. Today, hip-hop outsells all other forms of music and
consumers spend more on computer games than any other form of entertainment.
