Powerhouse e-Business platform and solutions made possible with breakthrough technology

J.D. Edwards, a leading provider of agile, collaborative solutions for the Internet economy, today announced support for the new IBM eServer p660 and p620 midrange UNIX servers, which supply industry-leading technology critical to running e-business applications. The eServers, introduced by IBM yesterday, are powered by IBM's breakthrough Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) microprocessor technology.

The IBM eServer p660 and p620 servers increase the range of manageable and scalable IBM platforms for J.D. Edwards OneWorld(r) and OneWorld(r) Xe solutions. The combination of J.D. Edwards software with the new IBM eServer platform provides customers with a highly reliable and scalable e-business infrastructure.

The cornerstone of unprecedented collaborative commerce, OneWorld Xe provides a flexible architecture, pre-integrated applications and interoperability to enable true collaboration. OneWorld Xe also provides unmatched quality and power to automate business processes and communication.

"Our customers can expect to run OneWorld solutions at higher performance levels using IBM's newly released pSeries 620 server. WebSphere testing in our performance labs using the eServer p620 as a OneWorld web application server has successfully scaled to over 1000 users while revealing a 27% throughput improvement over a similarly configured RS/6000 F80," said Michael Madden, CTO, J.D. Edwards.

The one- to six-way IBM eServer p620 is a high-performance deskside server with the power to run the IT infrastructure at small and medium-size companies. The p620 is also well suited to serve as a distributed application server for larger companies employing Web hosting, enterprise resource planning, ERP II, supply chain management and CRM applications.

"Working in partnership with J.D. Edwards, IBM offers a comprehensive portfolio of software and hardware solutions to effectively manage a company's e-business infrastructure," said Mike Kerr, vice president, IBM Web Server unit. "As an industry-leading platform for enterprise software, the new IBM eServer p660 and p620 systems meet the business-critical needs of our customers' most demanding computing environments."
