SECURANT UNVEILS DATABASE-INDEPENDENT WEB ACCESS CONTROL Wednesday 25 April 2001 PDF Print The world's first software suite to centrally control and automate enterprise-wide access to Web-based resources - without forcing costly re-engineering of legacy IT systems - makes its European debut today. The advance, by Securant Technologies, means organisations can now deploy robust application-level access control for staff, partners, customers, and suppliers, without the frequently associated time and cost penalties. It combines Securant's established and widely deployed ClearTrust SecureControl access control product with a new data abstraction and translation layer. The result - ClearTrust Enterprise Transparency Architecture - delivers protection for Web applications, content and transactions by working with user information stored virtually anywhere in an enterprise including LDAP directories, legacy databases, mainframes and other identity infrastructures. Alternative solutions only work with single directory types, often forcing the porting of all user information to a central source and mandating the purchase and support of what to many organisations may be an otherwise unnecessary directory technology. "This is all about cost and speed of deployment," says Securant's VP of marketing Tom Bennett. "We're the first vendor to say: leave your legacy directories in place, leave your data where it is. We'll work with exactly what you have, wherever it is." Securant's Enterprise Transparency Architecture already provides seamless integration with leading Web servers and application servers. In the coming months, it will add integration to major packaged web-enabled enterprise applications, mainframe Web security, protection for XML-based transactions, and wireless application security. The company also announced today version 4.6 of ClearTrust SecureControl, featuring native integration with BEA WebLogic 6.0 application servers, Citrix MetaFrame applications, and the iPlanet Portal Server. With LDAP Plus, Version 4.6 also integrates with LDAP directories using the robust Supplier-Consumer model enabling organisations to take advantage of enterprise LDAP directory deployments.
