- Leader in multi project management re-brands company to emphasise marketing initiative.

Leeds, England – Hydra Development Corporation Limited, the fast-growing specialist in multi-project management software, has been renamed The Program Management Group (PMG).

Increasing dissatisfaction with traditional project management tools especially in the PSA and related markets is forcing many users to revisit their sourcing decisions. The new name is part of a campaign to capitalise on this disillusionment with other project management products and emphasises the company's leading position in the managed services market for enterprises seeking multi project and programme management.

PMG will be rolling out an extended portfolio of managed services for programme management in the coming months, including web-based technology and an ASP service.

PMG has already demonstrated success in the fast-growing market for programme management software – technology designed to streamline management of multiple projects across multiple sites. Its proven Hydra product, developed over four years, has attracted 32 customers, with over 5,000 users in 32 countries. UK analysts estimated the UK market for programme management to be £300m in 2000 rising at 50% per annum. Multi-project management, collaborative project management and distributed project management are all dialects of programme management.

Peter Bondar, MD and CEO of PMG, explained the name change. "PMG is more than a single product company. We are expanding our portfolio of both products and services. We are now providing customers with managed services to give them a competitive edge in delivering multiple global projects on time and in budget. PMG's portfolio will include an ASP service for programme management, coupled with hands-on consultancy for enterprises choosing to introduce this technology. The new name reflects this broadening and removes confusion with the Hydra product itself."

The new name heralds the start of an aggressive marketing campaign to large, international organisations that face the challenge of handling multiple projects around the world. The company's solutions, based on the patent-based Hydra product, allow organisations to take a unique multi-level, resource-centric approach to managing a programme of projects, avoiding the shortcoming of traditional, task-centric project management tools.

The Program Management Group, based in Yorkshire's "Silicon Dale" designs, develops and markets programme management software and services. Founded in 1996, the fast-growing company spent over four years pioneering the concepts of programme management whilst developing and refining its launch product and has quickly established an international customer base of 32 global organisations, with over 5,000 users.

Hydra, the product, is a complete programme management suite, offering resource-centric, multi-project, multi-site planning capabilities. Hydra's patent based, pre-emptive scheduling technology allows organisations to successfully plan and implement multiple simultaneous projects without the limitations of discrete task-centric project management tools.
