Magazine’s Publisher to Present 2001 Platinum Awards to Maxtor for DiamondMax 80 and MaxAttach NAS 4000 at Maxtor’s Tradeshow Booth on April 25
LAS VEGAS, April 24, 2001 - Maxtor Corporation (NASDAQ:MXTR), a leading supplier of information storage solutions, announced today that it will receive two 2001 Platinum Awards from AV Video Multimedia Producer Magazine (AVVMMP) at the NAB2001 Multimedia World Conference in Las Vegas on Wednesday, April 25.
Maxtor’s DiamondMax* 80 will receive the Readers’ Choice Award in the Hard Disk Drive category. The MaxAttach* NAS 4000 will receive an Outstanding Achievement Award in the Network-Attached Storage category.
The awards will be presented by Sam Kintzer, the magazine’s publisher, at the Maxtor tradeshow booth 3537 at the Sands Convention Center on April 25 at 1:00 p.m. The conference runs from April 21 through April 26, with exhibits opening on April 23.
“AVVMMP conducted an exhaustive search to uncover the best products introduced or significantly upgraded between fall 1999 and fall 2000,” said Kintzer. “Both the DiamondMax 80 and the MaxAttach NAS 4000 were deemed among the best in a long list of products in their respective categories.”
“Maxtor is honoured to receive this recognition from the AVVMP, and we look forward to the official presentation on Wednesday,” said Tex Schenkkan, senior vice president, Consumer Electronics Business and business development. “These two awards confirm what Maxtor’s customers already know: Maxtor products are a great buy in terms of quality, reliability, value and ease of use.”
The DiamondMax 80 (80 GB) desktop hard drive, which is ideal for high-end desktops and workstations, and the MaxAttach NAS 4000 (320 GB), a high-capacity, low-cost, easy-to-use network-attached storage appliance, will be demonstrated at the Maxtor booth during NAB.
These two Maxtor products also won MVP 2001 Ziff Davis Smart Business Best of the Best awards in the Hardware category. The Diamond Max 80 took the honour in January 2001; MaxAttach 4000 won in March 2001. Various other Maxtor products have also been recognised this year, including PC World Best Buy awards in the March 2001 issue for the DiamondMax Plus 60 (60 GB) and the DiamondMax VL 40 (40 GB).
About the 2001 Platinum Awards
The AV Video Multimedia Producer Platinum Awards, created in 1995, recognise what the AVVMMP readers deem the best video, audio, animation, graphics, presentation, DVD, storage and delivery products introduced in the past 12 months. For the 2001 awards, the magazine's editors nominated what they believe to have been the best products introduced or significantly upgraded that shipped between the fall of 1999 and the fall of 2000. This year's list of nominated products was bigger than ever. Winners in each category include the Platinum Award, Outstanding Achievement (second place) and Reader's Choice (Third Place).
