Small and medium-sized businesses will soon be able to exploit the power and sophistication of leading order-processing and e-fulfilment software Strategix, by signing up to a pay-as-you-go Internet fulfilment service.

The new service, launched this month by IFS, will offer the customisable, modular Strategix software, typically used by multi-million pound distributors and resellers, to thousands of SMEs wishing to process and fulfil customer orders from the Internet, at a price they can afford.

For a small set up charge, plus a monthly fee, SMEs will be able to rely on IFS to process efficiently their customers’ requests for products samples and corporate literature. They will also be able to outsource their advertising response handling and call centre handling, and retrieve vital management data.

IFS has invested heavily in Strategix, spending almost a year tailoring the product to fit its customers’ requirements, and plans to process orders through a 100,000 sq ft capacity warehouse in Jarrow.

Strategix marketing manager, Alan Goodwin, explains that Strategix is a product made to measure for end-to-end Internet fulfilment: “It’s a multi-warehouse, multi-lingual, industrial-strength solution that integrates with most carriers. It's highly scaleable and has proven e-commerce capabilities. And crucially for IFS, it has a unique ability to separate one company’s stock from another's whilst enabling selective cross-company stock visibility for IFS' own administrative purposes.

“Strategix also offers real-time stock handling, which is critical when processing orders taken from customer web sites, and a high level of access security vital in ensuring that IFS customers can only see information relevant to their company. Another key feature which existing Strategix e-commerce users have come to depend on is personalised order enquiries and pricing.”

IFS’ managing director, Fraser Church, thinks that many companies have bespoke systems for Internet fulfilment that just don’t measure up. He adds: “We are an entirely service-driven and customer-focused organisation, dedicated to delivering the right product to the right customer at the right time. That’s why we need a best-of-breed product we can rely on, and Strategix is the obvious choice.”
