London, 01 May 2001 - The 2001 AGI Conference offers delegates a leading business and educational programme focusing on key issues surrounding the GI Industry. Andy Coote, Consultancy Director, ESRI (UK) will chair the "Data Integration" (3) session looking at a common standard for georeferencing, joining-up government and a model for integrating addresses and other geographical references to test the feasibility of street block based data as an integrating framework. "Web Mapping" (4) will be chaired by John Wills of Autodesk, who will discuss the potential of the web for B2B services, launching a major internet mapping site, and how to assist policy makers disseminate ideas and intelligence to a wider audience. Geoff Kendall of Infotech Enterprise Europe will chair "New business models" (5) featuring how to raise money to support business ideas, exploring new e-commerce business models and external perspectives on the opportunity for GI. "Exploiting GI across the enterprise" (6) will be chaired by John Alderson, Chairman, Informed Solutions, and will cover topics such as: a 'standalone' version of GIS based on DVD, integrating other corporate data, and use of GIS to assist organisational change. In addition to the conference, there will be an expanded workshop programme. The workshops will provide an opportunity to hear about real experiences and to discuss these in a less formal environment.
