BRIEF OVERVIEW

KCS aims to be the preferred supplier of people data solutions in medium-to-large enterprises. KCS covers all the bases delivering payroll, personnel, human resource management and time and attendance systems as a managed bureau, outsourced, ASP (Application Service Provider) or in-house solution. The company is leading the movement to greater employee empowerment and self service with internet-enabled desktop solutions.

HISTORY

KCS has spent some 30 years creating software solutions for the human resource and payroll marketplace initially developing mini and mainframe applications. In the early 1980s, when desktop technology was still in its infancy, it started to redevelop its applications and in 1989 introduced the first truly integrated personnel and payroll solution designed for open systems platforms.

MARKET SIZE

In 1999, there was a successful management buy-out and the company continues to flourish with over 50 employees supporting more than 400 customers in the UK. KCS’ applications are ideally suited to organisations with from 200 to 5000 employees although the systems have users with 80,000 employees and can handle any size of organisation. Over 2 million employees are served by KCS systems. Customers cover a wide spectrum of industry sectors, from manufacturing and retail through to the public sector and charitable organisations and include Homebase, Comet, Specsavers, Essex CC Social Services and the BBC.

PRODUCTS

KCS products are built using the Progress application development and database technology to provide high performance, e-business adaptability and low-cost of ownership, k-EM©. Human Resource Management Software provides the latest technology to maintain comprehensive real-time
information on virtually every detail on every employee. k-EM not only retains detailed information, but offers the functionality to analyse the data.
KCS’ HR software includes a personnel module with optional integrated components for personnel, payroll, training, recruitment, P11D/self assessment, skills and competencies, absence, time and attendance and a self-service facility for administrative intranet deployment.

k-PAYE© is a comprehensive payroll software solution designed to reduce the workload of payroll.

k-TIME© is a modern, versatile and cost-effective time and attendance (T&A) solution suitable for all companies with simple or complex T&A requirements. It can be used as a standalone system or part of KCS’ human resource solution k-EM. The integrated system eliminates duplicate data entry and ensures a smooth flow of data exchange for starters, leavers, payment data, absence control, etc.

k-NET© offers a range of human resource applications available for rental over the internet through an ASP (Application Service Provider) model. k-NET offers rapid implementation and eliminates the worries of application upgrades, maintenance and running IT in-house. Cost of ownership is lower offering sustainable and more sophisticated applications to organisations who wish to utilise software previously only affordable to larger organisations.
Payroll Bureau and HR Management Services offers advanced options for outsourcing part or all payroll and HR functions. All requirements through modular services and modular software are offered from conventional payroll processing services, traditional data exchange methods or internet access and input options to expert services, help desk and IT support services.

PARTNERSHIPS

KCS is a member of the Progress Software ASPEN (Application Service Provider ENablement) programme. It also has joint agreements with other Progress ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) such OpenAccounts, Hera Systems and Virtual Supplychain who are jointly able to meet the needs of the whole enterprise.
