Leeds, England – May 14th 2001 – The Program Management Group (PMG), UK pioneers in multi project management software, have announced a technology licensing agreement with Tarantella Inc. This will allow organisations the operational flexibility to deploy large-scale multi project management applications using PMG’s Hydra product family in any combination of web and Internet based technologies.

Many software development organisations are now using ‘off shore’ or multiple location development centres for several projects concurrently. Flexibility of deployment and access is becoming a major issue. Hydra is the only product that offers programme management capability in both web-based and Internet-based formats.

Commenting on the announcement, Peter Bondar, CEO and Chairman of PMG, said, “Major projects are being delayed because of poor project control and communication. Hydra is a pioneering programme management tool that has emerged to solve this problem, based on collaborative technologies. After extensive evaluation we have chosen to link up with the best leading web-enabling technology, Tarantella.”

“With the addition of Tarantella’s web enabling technologies the final part of a comprehensive jigsaw has now been completed, an organisation can now have all parts of its development organisation constantly integrated and updated irrespective of location or infrastructure. For example a manager can now access and manipulate their company’s entire project management system from a browser in an airline lounge, an internet café, from a desktop on an intranet. In addition, using the collaborative technologies within Hydra, he can use a thick client approach offline on his laptop and be resynched as soon as he retrieves his normal email.”

Bondar adds, “In the last two years we have taken over £1,000,000 worth of orders from users who have become disillusioned with both PC based project management solutions as well as ‘traditional’ project management vendors.”

Hydra’s new web based versions are available from today, typical order values for PMG customers range from £15,000 to £250,000.

Under the agreement, PMG will become an authorised Tarantella distributor.
