Pearl Assurance sign Cedar for a major long term Data Migration initiative Friday 11 May 2001 PDF Print Pearl Assurance, part of the AMP Group, have been working on a multi-million pound data migration contract with the data transformation specialist firm Cedar. This major initiative for Pearl Assurance forms part of a wider strategic transformation programme being developed for AMP in the UK. Cedar’s Consultancy Division initially assisted Pearl Assurance in formulating a detailed strategic Data Migration plan, resulting in a two year Data Migration schedule. The contract is to complete a phased migration of data from three legacy systems onto the Pearl CLOAS system. This will result in improved customer service as a more complete customer view is achieved through the use of just one system and staff are only required to learn one main line of business system. Benefits will be gained for policy holders through the consolidation of ‘live’ policies onto an operating system that is proven, reliable, flexible and is a solid base for further strategic development. The decommissioning of old operating systems will also allow significant cost savings on IT infrastructure and will reduce the cost of future system enhancements which will only need to be applied to one rather than four systems. James Dodding, Platform Rationalisation Program Manager, Pearl Assurance said : “The case for rationalising these systems was very strong and this is a key enabler of the transformation of the AMP Customer Services organisation in the UK. We needed a supplier who knew about our industry and could cope with the complexity of the issues and products involved. We therefore chose Cedar for our data migrations as they have an excellent reputation in the financial services industry, which is supported by good reference sites. The project is nearing completion and we are very pleased with the progress which has been made as a result of a collaborative team effort between Cedar and Pearl Assurance”. Roger Burrage, Head of Cedar Insurance Sector said: “We are extremely pleased to be assisting a major data migration initiative for one of the foremost Investment, Life and Pensions companies in the UK. Our tools and methodologies have been proven in several other organisations including Prudential, Abbey National (Scottish Mutual), Scottish Amicable, Scottish Equitable and Lloyds TSB Insurance Services. Above all however, we pride ourselves on our knowledge of the financial services industry and its inherent complexities”.
