XACCT’s “Network-to-Business” Platform Provides Real-Time Link Between Physical Network and Back Office Systems
Reading, May 14, 2001- XACCT Technologies, the leading provider of business infrastructure software solutions for IP networks, today announced that QoS Networks, a new-generation content delivery network provider that specializes in optimized content delivery with guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS), has selected XACCT’s Network-to-Business (N2B™) platform. The XACCT platform will be deployed throughout its network in over 46 Points of Presence (POPs) around the world.
QoS Networks provides IP transport with QoS guarantees, advanced security features, prioritised application service provider access, virtual private network services, high-speed Internet access, and Voice over IP (VoIP) delivery services. XACCT’s N2B platform will allow QoS Networks to capture real-time network data and integrate it with various existing and new back-office systems to speed time to market and time to revenue for new Internet services.
“QoS Networks is building an IP network from the ground up without the burdens of legacy switching and transmission technologies,” said John Goss, director of application development for QoS Networks. “We were able to search the market for the best possible solution for capturing highly granular network data, in real-time, in a multi-service environment for billing and analysis purposes. XACCT’s solution was clearly superior and will be an integral component of our worldwide network.”
“As a leading-edge operator, QoS Networks is offering their customers the service quality and content capability they need to run their businesses,” said Eric Gries, president and CEO of XACCT Technologies. “We are pleased that QoS Networks has chosen XACCT’s platform as part of their business infrastructure to develop and deploy truly value-based services, with mission-critical service levels.”
Under the agreement, QoS Networks will deploy the XACCT N2B platform in data centers, called Q-Links, currently in construction throughout the world. The company aims to have a worldwide network of 46 POPs by the end of 2001. Each QoS Networks Q-Link center is equipped with intelligent high-end routers and VoIP switches as well as the company's own network management software.
QoS Networks expanded its original agreement with XACCT Technologies-initially for only 15 points of presence-to include all 46 of the network provider’s planned POPs. The first deployment of the XACCT N2B platform is already under way in QoS Networks’ Atlanta, Ga., point of presence.
