Identifies Inefficiencies and Increases Profits to Customers


15 May, 2001 - Today at the sixth annual ECR Europe conference, the largest European Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) exhibition of products and services, ABC Technologies announced the release of the Oros( Value Chain Analyzer (VCA) 3.0, the key to a new group of applications built on industry proven technology and ECR standards. The VCA, a member of ABC's Oros Analytics software suite, is a collaborative tool that enables trading partners along value chains to analyse volume, costs and revenues of products as they flow from post-production to the final consumer.

During the conference, vice president of ABC Technologies Value Management, Nick Gazzard, also announced two new products within the VCA line of solutions - The Value Chain Designer and Value Chain Assortment Analyzer. These tools, when combined with the Value Chain Analyzer allow organisations to identify, manage and reduce costs and inefficiencies by approximately two to five percent and to improve revenues by at least 10 per cent.

"The VCA product group leads the consumer package goods industry for collaborative value chain analytical software."


The Value Chain Tool Suite

The Value Chain Analyzer illuminates the characteristics of the users' value chain by displaying, at each link, product attributes such as costs, volume and revenues. It also identifies activity/logistics costs for moving a product from post-production to the final consumer. The positive or negative monetary impact that each partner's actions have on the other trading partners becomes clearly visible. The software's ability to identify inefficiencies and imbalances provides an opportunity for collaboration among partners that result in the highest possible profits for everyone along the value chain.

The VC Designer helps users quickly build comparative models using a customer's existing data. A simple drag and drop interface allows users to quickly create competing value chains for side-by-side, best practice comparisons. This process used to take nearly two days. The VC Designer reduces that to about twenty minutes.

The Value Chain Assortment Analyzer measures the profit impact and contribution of individual or groups of items against the overall product mix. This add-on component reveals additional mutual cost/profit improvement decisions for increased value chain control.

ABC Technologies' VCA software is the analytical platform for ECR Europe's official task force on the profit impact of ECR collaboration. The software provides value analysis for more than twenty official ECR Europe projects covering Collaborative Planning Forecasting Replenishment( (CPFR) and other integrated demand and supply chain initiatives by major FMCG companies including Procter & Gamble, Carrefour, Unilever, Ahold and Spar.
