Dateline: 16th May 2001– Virtual Supplychain, developers of a global network of ASP (Application Service Provider) partners dedicated to the supply chain, has negotiated an agreement with IBM Advantage partner 7 GLOBAL, the Business Services Aggregator, to provide managed hosting and infrastructure services to its UK ASP channel partners.

b2bsolutionsonline, a Virtual Supplychain partner, will be first to move its managed ASP supply chain management and e-procurement applications for hosting at 7 GLOBAL’s Solutions Data Centre in the former bullion vaults of the Old Bank of England Building, Liverpool.

b2bsolutionsonline is one of the largest UK ASPs with around 1000 users for its supply chain management, buy and sell side e-procurement services. The initial contract with 7 GLOBAL is valued at £400,000.

Mike Dixon, chief executive officer, Virtual Supplychain said: “7 GLOBAL has demonstrated a keen understanding of the needs of ASPs for reliability, scalability and fail-safe operation of the IT hosting infrastructure as well as for simplified, ASP-sympathetic pricing and service level agreements. We were also attracted to 7, because of their strategic relationships with companies like Cable & Wireless with whom we have entered into an agreement to provide secure communications. As we build our network of ASP partners both in the UK and overseas, we look to forge relationships with infrastructure partners of the calibre of 7 GLOBAL to provide hosting facilities for the virtualsupplychain solution.”

“Virtual Supplychain’s relationships within the IT community, particularly with Progress Software and IBM, meant that this is a very significant partnership for us,” said Karl Roe, CEO at 7. “Along with services aggregation, supply chain is still one of the major issues for today’s IT managers. The combination of our two operations will, we are certain, bring great benefits to current and future customers.”
