16 May, 2001 - Mark Kedgley, 32, has been hired by British software firm, Chevin, as Director of Business Development, to set up OEM partnerships with hardware and software vendors in the network management, reporting and infrastructure space. Chevin will work with partners to develop network management systems based on its proprietary software, which enables total visibility management.
Chevin makes TeVISTA, a specialist LAN management tool that has revolutionised mid size to large companies’ networks. Network management tools, while important, are often regarded by IT managers as an afterthought. However, as network intelligence grows so does the need to keep it free of problems or overloading – both problems TeVISTA predetermines, saving users money while keeping essential or mission-critical services available.
Kedgley’s 12 years’ experience in the networking industry (Jaguar Communications, C&W) has taught him much about demands businesses place on their networks. In particular, he found that a lack of immediate and cost effective diagnostic and management tools cost many companies dearly: “As a Systems Integrator, we would use Chevin’s software to provide us with the realistic and immediate answers to customers network problems,” he explains. “Too often, companies would simply lack the knowledge or understanding of what was going on over their networks.” This led, Kedgley states, to “a combination of overspending and then disaster recovery as the new systems didn’t fit into place.”
