Corporate access management solution has largest, most accurate filtering database available
HOUSTON, TX, USA, 23 May 2001 -- FutureSoft has announced the release of its new Employee Internet Management product, DynaComm i:filter. The new solution manages corporate Internet traffic, allowing companies to control access and ensure that Web resources are utilised in a productive and more efficient manner. FutureSoft claims that i:filter has the largest and most
comprehensive filtering database on the market.
DynaComm i:filter's monitors, filters, blocks and logs Internet traffic to individual workstations. It features a database with over 3.8 million unique Web domains. Administrators can add further websites, and create their own category definitions to further customise the standard product. The product monitors HTTP (web), FTP (file transfer) and NNTP (newsgroup) traffic.
i:filter has three key components:
Network Monitor - inspects Internet traffic on the local network, logs traffic data and enforces the Internet Access Policy (IAP) established by the administrator.
Management Console - provides the user interface used to configure the Network Monitor, manage users seen by the Network Monitor, set up rules to enforce the IAP and create reports.
Central Database - collects log data and configuration parameters and houses a copy of the Destinations Database used to enforce the IAP.
Multiple Network Monitors can be linked across several sites, and because i:filter is deployed on a per-user basis, it scales seamlessly from enterprise-wide deployments to small offices.
According to Rick Mansel, President and CEO of FutureSoft, "The Internet can be a source of great productivity or diversion. Our product helps focus employee activity in a productive manner by eliminating non-business Internet activity. DynaComm i:filter helps organisations enhance employee productivity, maximise network bandwidth and minimise legal exposure."
DynaComm i:filter gives administrators a single point of access for all configuration and management functions, including Network Monitoring Machines, Rules, Users, Categories and Scheduling. It also features comprehensive reporting capabilities to model a company's Web usage patterns, including 35 pre-defined reports, tracking personal usage, peak usage, usage by category, blocked requests by user, browse time by user and more.
FutureSoft recently acquired the MultiView Group - a specialist in UNIX connectivity solutions - from SurfControl, giving FutureSoft a broad range of Web-to-host connectivity and terminal emulation products for both IBM and UNIX users. DynaComm i:filter is the first of the i:series line of Employee Internet Management products to be introduced by FutureSoft.
