24th May 2001, Basingstoke, UK and Newark, CA – Following its recent successful $15 million 2nd round equity financing, iOra (, a supplier of solutions for managing mobile content, has begun its rapid expansion program. The company has appointed a new Financial Director who is expected to take iOra to an Initial Public Offering (IPO), as well as two new sales people for its Major Accounts Sales Divisions. iOra has more than doubled its revenues each quarter averaged over the past 2 years, signing up a wide range of enterprise customers including Shell and GlaxoSmithKline.

Ian Sandbach, appointed as Financial Director for iOra, has been working for the last three years in an International role for a leading NASDAQ quoted software house. Responsible for seven subsidiaries across Europe with a turnover of $60m, Sandbach has proven experience working both in the software environment and within large-scale financial operations.

Sandbach said: "iOra’s excellent product portfolio, strong investment backing and solid performance growth places it well for an IPO. I believe that my experience gives me the firm foundation required to take a flexible, dynamic company like iOra forward. Such opportunities take accountancy into exciting new waters."

Sandbach is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountants, having qualified in practice in 1993.

iOra has also appointed two new senior sales people to strengthen its Major Accounts and vertical sales teams. Pauline Sheppard joins with 16 years experience at Merant (formerly Micro Focus), Luminate, and SealedMedia, selling to UK Major Accounts, ISV’s and VARS. At Merant, Sheppard was also responsible for selling Year 2000 solutions in Europe, South America and Africa, where her travels included crossing several war territories.

Sheppard, who will initially be focussing on the financial market, said: "iOra has ground-breaking technology with a strong local product development program that opens the door for great new sales opportunities. Another plus is that I won’t have to go into war zones any more!"

iOra has also appointed Bruce Eley as Senior Account Executive for the Telecommunications sector. Previously European Business manager at US Company ComSearch, Eley played a significant contribution in its 300% yearly growth over the last two years. Eley’s experience will be invaluable to iOra as it targets large Telecommunications companies, mobile operators, ISPs and network operators with mobile staff.

"The telecommunications vertical market isa very good fit for iOra – iOra’s Mobile Intranet product is a key enabler for corporate adoption of mobile computing. For me this is a great chance to work with new technology that will become a significant contributor to the business communications sector," said Eley.
