MSN OPTS FOR ON ON-LINE GALLERY PRINTING FROM PIXOLOGY Tuesday 5 June 2001 PDF Print MSN.co.uk - the UK’s most visited web destination *- today announced that it has clinched a deal with Pixology to launch a co-branded on-line photo gallery using digital image and printing technology. The new MSN online gallery service provides additional consumer content and enables customers to select an image from an immense range of photographic material and either order photo quality prints or have the image applied to items such as T-shirts, mouse-mats or posters, all selected, handled and paid for on-line. A key factor in the decision to create this new service was MSN.co.uk’s desire to develop an incremental revenue stream to complement its existing portal channels, which include sport, news, music, celebrities and events. The ability to obtain printed images online of celebrities, pop icons or popular personalities, supports this strategy perfectly. Matthew Whittingam, MSN Business Marketing Manager, said “Convergence of great content is what the 11 million people who visit MSN.co.uk on a monthly basis feel is the best thing about the internet. The ability to visit one site and find everything you are looking for from news and shopping to celebrity gossip to music downloads, is what makes our users want to spend time online. We’re confident that our partnership with Pixology will provide exciting new content in the digital-imaging arena which will be a big hit with our users. “We have a deep understanding of our customer’s needs, and this new on-line print venture adds value to our existing offers whilst supporting our goals of providing visitors with quality and choice in an exciting and flexible environment.” Much of the picture content within the MSN.co.uk service will be drawn from the vast image library of the Press Association, giving huge choice as well as an ever-changing image base that can mirror popular culture and the mood of the moment as well as providing ‘classic’ images. Pixology’s CEO, Yuval Yashiv, added: “MSN is a great brand to add to our customer portfolio and the partnership agreement we have not only enables us to support their customer strategy, but allows us to work closely in developing additional imaging opportunities, so that the MSN.co.uk service can evolve to meet future needs.” This latest contract for the Guildford based company comes on the back of another recent contract with News International, who also operate a Pixology driven gallery printing service via the internet. The UK launch will be the first of its kind for MSN.co.uk and will be seen as a benchmark for other territories. Also, by operating News International’s Page3.com gallery, and by developing other internet photo-printing services for customers such as BT, NTL and jungle.com, Pixology has demonstrated that the technology is already successful and proven in a demanding market place. - ends - For information on Pixology contact: Neil Botting OR Suzanne Orsler at McCann Erickson Public Relations on t: 0121 321 2444, f: 0121-321 2442 or e: firstname.lastname@example.org OR Suzanne_orsler@europe.mccann.com This press release was distributed by ResponseSource Press Release Wire on behalf of McCann-Erickson Public Relations in the following categories: Consumer Technology, Personal Finance, Business & Finance, Computing & Telecoms, for more information visit https://pressreleasewire.responsesource.com/about.
