....Beats Harvard and Leading Edge to Premier Show for
Business Users...

Learned Information Europe Ltd, organisers of Internet World
UK, the largest Internet and Intranet exhibition for
business users in the British Isles, has awarded a six month
PR contract to high tech marketing communications
consultancy A Plus Group. A Plus won the contract in an open
pitch that included agencies Harvard and Leading Edge.

A Plus will work to support Learned Information's efforts to
attract the industry's major players as exhibitors, as well
as high quality visitors with purchasing power for
electronic media, to Internet World UK ‘98. The show, which
will be staged in London for the sixth time between 12-14
May 1998, is part of Mecklermedia's Internet World global
tour which includes shows from New York to Kuala Lumpur and
attracts a high quality business audience from a wide range
of industry sectors.

Internet World UK joins other A Plus clients at the
forefront of Internet technology including BusinessNet, GE
Information Services, IBM Software, Netcom, NetObjects and
Sybase.

Jennifer Palmer, marketing manager at Learned Information,
commented on the choice of agency: "It is our mission to
become the premier exhibition for Internet product, content
and service providers. A Plus impressed us with its
knowledge of the industry and enthusiasm for this show,
demonstrating a very high degree of creativity in the
proposal."

Mike Copland, A Plus managing director, emphasised: "This
win is an excellent complement to our existing Internet
client business. A Plus invests heavily in Internet
initiatives which bring an enhanced level of service to our
clients and the media. We believe in practising what we
preach, so we will be relying heavily on the Internet to
manage our work and deliver results in the build up to
Internet World. E-mail will be a major vehicle, as will the
recently launched A Plus Press Centre, which uses ‘push
technology' to deliver information to targeted press via the
Internet."

Copland added: "We will now use our strong knowledge base
built up from doing PR on behalf of numerous
Internet-focused clients over the past decade to ensure that
the widest range of media recognise Internet World as the
most influential show in the UK, then support it through
attendance and coverage."

This win is the second contract A Plus has won during 1997
to support a major exhibition in the UK. In March, A Plus
won a contract to provide PR support for the Computers in
Manufacturing (CIM) exhibition. ends
