BAA e-Procurement Initiative Off To A Flying Start with Requisite Technology's Catalogue Content Services Wednesday 6 June 2001 PDF Print Requisite partners with Oracle to provide e-procurement solution in major UK airports, including Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted LONDON, UK – 6th June, 2001 – Requisite Technology® Ltd today announced that it has signed a new contract with BAA plc to provide catalogue content creation and management services for its e-procurement system. All indirect products and services used by the Group can now be purchased from catalogues managed through Requisite’s eMerge* content management system. Tens of thousands of catalogue items, ranging from hand tools to protective clothing and escalator components to temporary immigration control personnel, are available for purchase. Items have now been classified under the Requisite Unifying Structure (RUS), an emerging global content organisation standard, which enables suppliers to differentiate products through its support of rich content formats. Using Requisite’s eMerge* content management system, BAA plc and its suppliers can continuously refresh all product and service information, ensuring end-users always have the most up to date purchasing information. Due to the success of the first round of implementation in Gatwick airport in August 2000, BAA has now extended its Oracle Self Service procurement system to Heathrow, Southampton, Stansted, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. “We have already seen a number of benefits as a result of deploying our e-procurement system,” said Owen Inglis Humphrey, Content Manager for BAA. “Our supplier base has been consolidated and costs have decreased through our being able to better leverage our nationwide purchasing power.” “Successful e-procurement depends on highly organised and searchable catalogues and the real-time management of content,” said Peter Cosgrove, director of global consulting, Requisite Technology. “We are delighted to be helping BAA meet its goal of better managing purchasing expenditure and introducing a consistent end-user experience across all UK airports.” About Requisite Technology Ltd Requisite Technology helps companies doing Internet commerce to create, organise and manage product and service information for efficient Web-based finding, buying and selling.
