Bidcom solution selected for John Lewis Oxford Street £13m plus makeover Thursday 7 June 2001 PDF Print Bidcom Limited, a leading UK engineering, construction and property e-business services provider, announces today that its web-based project management solution, Citadon ProjectNet, has been selected by leading retail interiors contractor, Styles & Wood, for the £13m plus makeover project of the John Lewis Oxford Street store. The improvement scheme, which will renew and improve the department store's basement, ground and first floors, is scheduled to finish in February 2002. Bidcom's web-based project management application is being used by all the key parties working on the project, which together with John Lewis Partnership and Styles & Wood, also include architects, engineers, service engineers, interior designers, quantity surveyors and several sub-contractors. Because the solution is delivered through the internet, everyone working on the project is able to access the most up-to-date information on the project regardless of the time of day or their location. Designed to streamline the project management process, ProjectNet uses business process management (BPM) workflow methodology to help reduce and eliminate inherent project inefficiencies and costs, whilst improving a company's ability to competitively manage and complete projects faster. The solution ensures complete accountability and transparency of the project because collaboration, communication and documentation are all automated and users are notified when they have documents waiting for them to review and approve, issues to address, or tasks to complete. Commenting on the solution, Jeff Tonge, divisional marketing manager at Styles & Wood commented: "We are always interested in looking at new technologies that will streamline our business processes, thereby helping us to meet our commitment to the client on budget. Bidcom's delivery of ProjectNet to everyone involved on the project means that all users now have a single point of access for managing and viewing multiple documents. The ability to red-line drawings electronically without needing to resort to multiple paper versions is obviously another huge benefit." Jeremy Thornton, project manager at John Lewis Partnership in charge of the work, remarked: "We have many ongoing construction and improvement schemes taking place throughout our group of department stores, so were very happy to trial a solution that will help speed up the information flow between the construction team. Although we are still in the very early stages of using ProjectNet, we are already beginning to realise its benefits in terms of transparency and accountability, by bringing to our attention any potential bottlenecks without delay!"
