International logistics specialist, D. F. Young, Inc, has awarded a five-year outsourcing contract worth $750,000 to midrange and desktop outsourcing supplier, Digica Inc. D. F. Young is a Customs Broker and International Freight Forwarder in business since 1903. The company provides international logistics, transportation management and customs brokerage services for air, land and ocean shipments worldwide. Headquartered in New York City, D. F. Young has 11 offices across the US.

D. F. Young’s 2 AS/400 machines have been moved from their previous location in New York City to Digica’s purpose-built datacentre in Branchburg, New Jersey, and Digica is providing full operations and technical support. A further AS/400 at Young’s site in Detroit, MI, will be upgraded from a CISC to a RISC environment and then remotely managed by Digica. The AS/400s run logistics software provided by Digica’s sister company, DCS Transport & Logistics Solutions.

Digica will also help D. F. Young to consolidate 11 NT servers down to 6, which will be transferred subsequently to Digica’s datacentre, and they will remotely manage another 4 servers remaining at Young’s Jersey City location.

Digica’s Support Centre provides a single point of contact for all queries and problems, managing them through to resolution by Digica’s own staff or third party suppliers.
